I woke up this morning with my brain on fire—in the best way possible! While reviewing how we’ve been selling our products, I had a light-bulb moment: we’d set things up… not quite right. So, we fixed it!
Even though our software is where most of our development effort (and budget!) goes right now, it has always been free to download and install. The only cost is a one-time license fee that covers the lifetime of that installation on a single device.
To keep things clean and clear, we’ve removed all software “products” from the store. Now, when you purchase your first (or any additional) license(s), you’ll automatically receive download links for all platforms that license covers. For example, a CBClient license will come with links for:
-
CBClient – Windows – Current Version
-
CBClient – Linux – Current Version
-
CBClient – macOS – Current Version
-
CBClient – Android – Current Version
(Quick tip: I do recommend grabbing the Android version from the Google Play Store by searching “CBClient – The CodeBook System”. That way, updates roll out to you automatically. But if you prefer manual updates, you’ll always have access to the latest version on our website.)
CBClient for iOS is also well underway and scheduled for release by the end of 2025!
The same streamlined process applies to CBManager licenses. You’ll receive download links for:
-
CBManager – Linux – Current Version
-
CBManager – Windows – Current Version
-
CBManager – macOS – Current Version
(And yes—there’s intentionally no mobile version of CBManager. That’s a built-in security measure.)
Once your purchase is complete, your download links will arrive by email and will always be accessible under Shop → My Account → Downloads. Whenever a new version is released, that page updates automatically and will show the latest version number—e.g., CBClient – Linux v2.0.1. You can check the version you’re currently running by looking at the top of your in-app menu. We’ll also send out an announcement each time an update goes live. The Downloads page will always host the most current version.
At the end of the day, nothing has changed about the core idea: your purchase gives you a perpetual license to use a server-free, doubly encrypted, private communications tool—one license per application, per device.
If you need any help or have questions, I’m here and happy to assist!
