Welcome to CBClient – the secure messaging application using advanced codebook encryption. This guide will help you install CBClient on your Android device.

1. System Requirements
A. Minimum Requirements
– **Android Version**: 7.0 (Nougat) or higher
– **Storage Space**: 50 MB free space
– **Internet**: Required for license activation only
– **Permissions**: Internet access (for license validation)
B. Recommended
– **Android Version**: 10.0 or higher
– **Storage Space**: 100 MB for messages and codebooks
– **Screen Size**: 5 inches or larger

2. Installation from Google Play Store
**This is the recommended method for most users.**
A. Step 1: Open Google Play Store
1. Tap the **Play Store** icon on your device
2. Sign in with your Google account (if not already signed in)
B. Step 2: Search for CBClient
1. Tap the **search bar** at the top
2. Type: **”CBClient”** or **”Secure Computer Solutions”**
3. Tap the **search icon** (magnifying glass)
C. Step 3: Install the App
1. Find **CBClient** by Secure Computer Solutions Corp
2. Tap the app to open its store page
3. Tap the **”Install”** button
4. Wait for download and installation to complete (usually 30-60 seconds)
D. Step 4: Open the App
1. Tap **”Open”** button in Play Store, OR
2. Find the **CBClient** icon on your home screen or app drawer
3. Tap the icon to launch CBClient
E. Step 5: Run in Demo Mode to check it out.
1. Click on top button to do an up to 15 day Demo
2. User Name: demo
3. Password: testingitout
4. Download a CodeBook by going to the Downloads—>Demo-Files Folder from above menu
6. Download an encrypted message from the President of SCSC by going to the Downloads—>Demo-Files Folder from above menu
7. Once activated, you’re ready to use CBClient!
F. Step 5: Activate Your License
1. Enter your **license key** (provided by Secure Computer Solutions)
2. Tap **”Activate”**
3. Wait for validation (requires internet connection)
4. Enter the name and password you want to use
5. Once activated, you’re ready to use CBClient!

1 Installation from APK File
**For advanced users or when Play Store is not available.**
2 Before You Begin
⚠️ **Important Security Notes**:
– Only download APK files from **seccomsol.com** or official sources
– Never install APK files from unknown websites
– Verify the file size matches the official release (approximately 10 MB)
3. Step 1: Enable Unknown Sources
**For Android 8.0 and higher:**
1. Open **Settings** on your device
2. Go to **Apps & notifications** (or **Apps**)
3. Tap **Advanced** → **Special app access**
4. Tap **Install unknown apps**
5. Select your **browser** or **file manager**
6. Enable **”Allow from this source”**
**For Android 7.0 – 7.1:**
1. Open **Settings**
2. Go to **Security** (or **Lock screen and security**)
3. Enable **”Unknown sources”**
4. Tap **OK** to confirm
Step 2: Download the APK
**Option A: From Your Computer**
1. Visit **https://seccomsol.com**
2. Navigate to **Downloads** —> Android Folder
3. Download the current **CBClient-vX-YYYYMMDD.zip** (where X is the current Version Number and YYYYMMDD is the year, month and day the file was released.
4. Transfer the file to your Android device via:
– USB cable (copy to Downloads folder)
– Email (send to yourself and download on phone)
– Cloud storage (Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.)
**Option B: Directly on Your Phone**
1. Open your phone’s **browser**
2. Visit **https://seccomsol.com**
3. Navigate to **Shop** → **My Account** → **Downloads**
4. Tap **Download CBClient – Android**
5. Wait for download to complete
Step 3: Install the APK
1. Open your **file manager** or **Downloads** app
2. Navigate to the **Downloads** folder
3. Tap on **CBClient-vX-YYYYMMDD.zip** (where X is the current Version Number and YYYYMMDD is the year, month and day the file was released.
4. You’ll see an installation screen
5. Review the permissions:
– ✅ **Internet** – Required for license validation
6. Tap **”Install”**
7. Wait for installation to complete (10-30 seconds)
8. Tap **”Open”** to launch CBClient
Step 4: Verify Installation
After installation, verify:
– ✅ App icon appears on home screen or app drawer
– ✅ App opens without errors
– ✅ Version shows as **1.0** in About section
Step 5: Activate Your License
1. Launch CBClient
2. Enter your **license key** (Received in your email or found in your **My Account** → **Licenses** (This license MUST be a Client license!)
3. Tap **”Activate”**
4. Wait for validation
5. Enter your desired UserName (Case Sensitive) and Password (twice, and Case Sensitive).
6. You’re ready to use CBClient for Android!
Step 6: Disable Unknown Sources (Recommended)
For security, disable “Unknown sources” after installation:
1. Go back to **Settings** → **Security**
2. Disable **”Unknown sources”** or **”Install unknown apps”**

4. First-Time Setup
Initial Configuration
After installation and license activation:
1. Step One: Setup User Account
1. Create Your User Account
2. Enter a **username** (e.g., “John”)
3. Enter a **password** (minimum 8 characters)
4. Confirm your password
5. Tap **”Create User”**
2. Import or Codebooks
**Import Existing Codebook**
1. Tap **”Manage Codebooks”**
2. Tap **”Import Codebook”**
3. Select **CodeBook.zip** file (provided by your organization)
4. Wait for import to complete
5. Codebook is now ready to use
Step 3: Write a Message
1. Tap **”Create Message”**
2. Type in your message
3. Click on **”Save Message”**
Step 3. Start Using CBClient
**To Encrypt a Message:**
1. Tap **”Encrypt”** on main screen
2. Type your message
3. Select a codebook group
4. Tap **”Encrypt”**
5. Export the encrypted .emsg file
**To Decrypt a Message:**
1. Tap **”Decrypt”** on main screen
2. Tap **”Import Message”**
3. Select the .emsg file
4. View the decrypted message

Troubleshooting
Installation Issues
Problem: “App not installed”
**Solutions:**
– ✅ Check available storage space (need at least 50 MB)
– ✅ Ensure Android version is 7.0 or higher
– ✅ Try restarting your device
– ✅ Re-download the APK file (may be corrupted)
Problem: “Unknown sources blocked”
**Solution:**
– Follow Step 1 in [Installation from APK File](#step-1-enable-unknown-sources)
– Make sure you enabled it for the correct app (browser or file manager)
Problem: “Parse error”
**Solutions:**
– ✅ APK file may be corrupted – re-download
– ✅ APK may be for wrong architecture – download correct version

License Activation Issues
Problem: “License validation failed”

**Q: Does CBClient work offline?**
A: Yes! After initial license activation, CBClient works completely offline. Internet is only needed for license validation, and at each opening to verify valid license, but otherwise no internet is needed.
**Q: Can I use CBClient on multiple devices?**
A: Yes, but each device requires license activation. Contact support for multi-device licensing.
**Q: Is my data secure?**
A: Yes! CBClient uses advanced codebook encryption. All data is stored locally on your device in a doubly encrypted format.
Technical Questions
**Q: What permissions does CBClient need?**
A: CBClient only requires **Internet** permission for license validation. No camera, or location permissions are needed.
**Q: Where are my messages stored?**
A: Messages are stored in the app’s private directory on your device. They are not accessible to other apps. These files are double encrypted.
**Q: What file formats does CBClient use?**
A:
– Encrypted messages: **.emsg** files
– Codebooks: **CodeBook.zip** files
– Un-encrypted messages are kept as message.txt and are in the open. It is advised that as soon as you finish your message, encrypt it, but be warned the message.txt file is then deleted.
**Q: Can I transfer messages between devices?**
A: Yes! Export .emsg files and import them on another device with the same codebook.

**Q: Does CBClient work on tablets?**
A: Yes! CBClient works on any Android device running Android 7.0 or higher.
**Q: Is there an iOS version?**
A: Not currently. CBClient is available for Android, Windows, Macintosh and Linux systems at this time only. iOS is coming!
**Q: Can I use CBClient with the Windows version?**
A: Yes! Messages encrypted on Android can be decrypted on Windows and vice versa, as long as you have the same codebooks.
**Q: What’s the difference between Play Store and APK versions?**
A: They are identical. Play Store version receives automatic updates, while APK version requires manual updates.
